This volume of The New York Mirror includes the first 7 sketches: "The Fashionable Dancing Academy" (p122); "Miss Evans and the Eagle" (p134); "The Bloomsbury Christening" (p. 146-47); "The Steam Excursion" (p162-63); "Meditations in Monmouth Street" (p177-178); "The Great Winglebury Duel" (p. 186-87); and "A Christmas Dinner" (p. 202-03). Also includes a handsome full page steel engraved plate by A. Richardson, "Distant View of Mount Tom" (p392). The New York Mirror published music, poetry and literature by important period authors, including Washington Irving and Oliver Wendell Holmes. Jan 1836 to Dec 1936, complete; with 3 plates. Folio, engraved half title, three quarter brown leather and marbled boards, with gilt subscriber label at front board. Spine rubbed; some light foxing at early pages, the plates bright and clean.
