This antiquarian Camp Fire Girls guidebook comes with original ephemera, including lists of Camp Fire honors, contests, crafts, and more, marked with the name of a camper from Troy, Pa. The book is bound in brown paper covers with an illustration of a Camp Fire Girl blowing a bugle on the front. The camper's name is written in pencil on the front cover, dated 1919. Lower front corner of the cover and first several pages is bent. Otherwise, interior pages are clean. The book is illustrated throughout with photographs, drawings and diagrams, with a special section outlining the "War Program" of the Camp Fire Girls, which focused on saving, preserving and supplying food. The bulk of the book is devoted to outlining the purpose and program of the Camp Fire Girls organization, its traditions and its laws. At the time of this publication, the Camp Fire organization was less than a decade old but had already grown larger than Juliette Gordon Low's Girl Guides. During World War I, Camp Fire Girls sold Liberty Bonds and Thrift Stamps, supported French and Belgian orphans, and earned honors by conserving food.
