Folio. 12.25 x 8 inches. [2] pp + [5] pp. Title on back cover. Disbound. In very good condition. The printed books report supplies figures for customs duties paid on bound and unbound books for 1800 and 1801, until 10th October. The Land Tax Report includes details of the sales made by the Archbishop of Canterbury and Sixteen of the Bishops and other clerical bodies. The Land Tax was introduced in 1692 and in 1798 the Land Tax Redemption Office was established, in which it became a perpetual charge which could be redeemed by payment of a lump sum and landowners were thereby exonerated. This sum equalled fifteen years tax but it could be exonerated by purchasing three per cent consols in government stock to achieve an annuity.
