French Edition, published in 1902 (originally published in 1891). ***Rebound in a period salmon pink buckram binding, with all pages present except for the original card wrappers. With an atmospheric frontispiece portrait of Paul Verlaine by Eugène Carrière. With a four page Preface by Francois Coppee. *** Very good in slightly faded salmon pink buckram boards. Spine is browned. Gilt titles on a paper label on the spine. Fore-edge and bottom edge of text block stained pink to match the binding. Top edge stain of text-block darkened. Extremities and corners of boards worn. Spine browned. Spine tight. Paper stock tanned. With a small, neat contemporaneous gift inscription on the front free endpaper 'Joan Cross with love from EC (2nd London Season)'.
