Thick 8vo. (22 cm.) xiv, 1-450p. Frontispiece color illustration with tissue guard plus 3 other full-page color plates and 20 other plates in monochrome after printings by T.H.F. Bacon, ARA and other artists. Appendix [other books on these topics], Index, and Table of Pronunciation. Grey-green cloth clocked in triple yellow lines, with letters in brown on the front cover and the spine, and with a vignette in yellow and brown on the front cover of a lyre, and a vignette on the spine of a Celtic cross. Very minor wear to extremities with a couple of corners just barely rubbed through, cloth clean and bright, spine slightly darkened, top and bottom of spine tender, occasional light foxing, all illustrations present and in fine condition, tissue guard intact, else near fine to fine with no internal markings. No dust jacket. An expert in Arthurian and British legends, Charles Squire wrote extensively on the subject just after the turn of the 20th century. His classic Celtic Myth and Legend, Poetry & Romance was abridged from an earlier, 1905 first edition entitled The Mythology of the British Islands.
