Decorated red cloth of Nash's Summer Library, spine ends chipped, inner hinges weak, text edges browned, text otherwise clean and sound. Inexplicably scarce, as are most of his many books. This is the fourth printing, and from the extensive reviewer quotes, Richardson was appreciated as a satirist and wit on both sides of the Atlantic. He seems to have had a stock-in-trade of disparaging the facial hair styles of the turn of the 20th century, but the stories here range considerably wider than that - with acute wit and sparkling turn of phrase reminiscent of A. P. Herbert or Wodehouse, though with a cynicism absent from those authors. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Seller Inventory # 22250
