About this Item
This 4.625 x 7.0 inch, 124 page hardcover book is a possible first printing of this title as indicated by the statement ?First Published 1912? with no additional publishing information on the copyright page or on the title page. This copy is in at least good condition with the blue paper-over-boards covers and with a probable velum spine strip showing considerable time wear - - with all four corners worn through the paper and with the spine strip now brittle and cracking in spots. The interior text is in much better condition with no markings or damage to note and with the pages in virtually near fine condition - - with only a touch of aging to the pages. A tissue guard protects the frontispiece illustration showing one single deer in an oval-shaped vast landscape. The rest of the text pages are all rough-cut and the deckled edging has not been worn or dampened, and the front paste down shows a small decal for a bookstore in South Kensington - - and a personal calling card for ?Miss Gertrude Thompson? is laid in loose. The story of this book is a journey through love and death from old India - - and dances around the internal mystery of those words and experiences, and some have suggested the title for this book might instead be ?A heavenly bubble or, love is a bubble, or nothing but a bubble, or a bubble of the world.? 124 pages.
