Printed in black and red within red ruled borders, preliminary colour printed leaf and 16 chromolithograph and illuminated plates. 12mo. [149 x 89 x 33 mm]. Contemporary binding of brown goatskin, the covers with a black fillet border and covers and spine tooled all over with multiple horizontal black fillets, the front cover with a raised brass cross, the spine lettered in gilt and with a black fleuron, the edges of the boards encased in a brass frame, with hinged catch and pin, pale yellow endleaves, gilt edges (small dark spot on rear joint, a little rubbed). The Psalms are dated 1858. The preliminary leaf is colour printed with an ivy design and lettered on the verso "Illuminated by Sam.l Stanesby. Printed in Colors by Ashbee & Dangerfield", and the 16 plates or sub-titles are splendidly printed and illuminated. A fine copy in a highly unusual binding. With a green shield-shaped printed paper label "Edward Fox, Bookseller, Stationer &c, "Herald Office", Statford on Avon". Neat ink gift inscription on front endleaf. Seller Inventory # ebc7068
