In very good condition, hardcover in red cloth-covered boards with decorative gilt flowers and title. Spine has a forward lean and some color loss, but title is still visible. 302pp text is bright with a few repaired tears, no markings, other than an attractive gift dedication from previous owner (on FEP). Illustrated color frontispiece with approx. 20~ plates of glossy B/W and color illustrations throughout. No jacket. The riches to rags story of a London cab horse written by a woman not for children, but to make adults aware of the poor treatment of horses and other animals in 1800s England.
