Pea green cloth covered boards. Some scuffing at the edges. In particular, the spine, with its gilt titles, has a closed tear at the head/front board joint (< 20 mm); as well as the scuffing (tail, too). There is a colour pictorial onlay to the front cover, one of fourteen such (whole page) illustrations by N. C. Wyeth. In addition, both sets of endpapers feature pictorial details of archers emerging from the woods; about to launch as assault. The binding remains generally tight with mild to moderate tanning throughout. The latter effect is more evident on the preliminary and final pages (see photo of rear endpaper to illustrate this point). pp. x, 296. 8vo (super octavo).
