About this Item
Carl Ludwig Schleich (1859-1922) was a German physician, philosopher and writer, who is remembered chiefly for introducing local anaesthesia into clinical practice. His memoirs 'Besonnte Vergangenheit: Lebenserinnerungen 1859-1919' (literal translation 'Sunny Past'; English title translated as 'Those Were Good Days') became one of the most successful autobiographies in the German language following its first publication in 1920. This edition, published 1935, has 351pp and 16 full page illustrations in b & w, with colour frontispiece. Typically of books published in German at that time, it is printed in Gothic script. Hardback cover in red cloth with gold lettering on front & spine. Cover, binding and text all in good condition. Original dust jacket has small tears along top edge and at top & bottom of spine, rather grubby, otherwise good. Seller Inventory # ABE-1592846973523
