Sole edition. Cr. 8vo - c. 7.5 x 5 inches, pp. colour frontis + viii + 320 + 4 b& w plates + 8 (publisher's ads ) ,coloured endpapers, top edge gilt, hardback in original cloth Book condition - Good +, pages a little dusty and tanned around the edges, touches of foxing here and there, inscription on recto of frontis ( " Olive May Jones 4th July 1929 "), no inscriptions in text, the book has been re-cased in the orginal case binding so the text block is very firm, the inner hinges show splitting but the joints, being refurbished, are secure. Original dark-green cloth with colour illustration and title on the front and spine (please see photos), corners rubbed and a little bent, hinges rubbed, back with a small marks otherwise very clean, spine complete but ends creased and rubbed and a small split at the top (now repaired), at the corners of the spine there are small areas where showing the underlying repair cloth, the spine gilt on the spine shows some rubbing and dulling but the title and illustration remain complete and clear (please see photo), the front is clean with the illustration complete and clear. A fictionalised story of " a possible elucidation of the mystery surrounding the great explorer's fate ", the great explorer being Dr. Ludwig Leichardt whose party of eight, in 1848, started to cross Australia from east to west but which never returned and with no trace found.
