There is no publication date included in this volume but an advertisement for this book by this publisher was found in the "Saturday Review" April 9, 1881. The mustard colored cloth boards with black decorations and gilt lettering is soiled, and sunned on the spine. However, the gilt remains legible and bright. The board edges and spine ends show wear, and the rear board has a dent at the outer edge. The writing on the front cover indicates there are 84 illustrations in the volume, this book is complete, two of illustrations appear to have color. One of the illustrations of a necklace has green on three of the beads in one of items, pg. 232, and one of the bonnets and tops on 264 also has coloring. The coloring appears to be part of the printing process, and not done by a previous owner. There 267 pages to this volume followed by two pages of advertisements of books by the same publisher. It appears that the end papers for this book have been replaced. The book is solidly bound and with out pencil marks throughout, however, there are some pages with some smudges. brown spots.
