About this Item
In English and Chinese. 2013 signed and inscribed first edition, Mentor Publishing (Selangor, Malaysia), 9 1/2 x 10 3/8 inches tall brown textured cloth hardcover in publisher's unclipped dust jacket, silver lettering to front cover, copiously illustrated with mostly full color photographs and architectural drawings/plans, 446 pp. plus colophon. Very slight rubbing to covers, with minor bumping to tips. Nicely inscribed and signed by the author on the title page. Otherwise, apart from very slight creasing to a couple of page tips, a very good copy - clean, bright and unmarked - in a very good dust jacket which is nicely preserved and displayed in a clear archival Brodart sleeve, of this scarce illustrated review of the architectural work of the author and his company, Arkitek Teknikarya. OCLC (No. 868530750) locates only six copies at institutions worldwide - three in Malaysia, one in Singapore, one in Hong Kong and one at the Library of Congress in Washington. Note that this is a heavy and oversized book, so additional postage will be required for international or priority orders. ISBN 9674190325. ~GGG~ [6.5P] In English and Chinese. Set against the backdrop of the last quarter-century of Asian financial turmoil and world economic upheaval, this book traces the life of a young professional architect who eventually became an entrepreneur in property development. It contains the author's development projects, which are mostly part of the design works of the author's architectual firm, Arkitek Teknikarya, as well as the body of design works and projects of the firm. More than a collection of projects, the book is about the pursuit of being professional and enterprising at the same time, with the struggle for a balance between architectural idealism and commercial success.
