About this Item
The Aran Islands: With Drawings By Jack Yeats. By J.M. Synge and printed in Boston by John W. Luce and Company. 1911, 234 pp, 7.75 x 5 , 8vo, hardcover original boards. In good condition, with minor rubbing and wear to exterior. Hinges remain in good condition and text block remains bound well. Light staining to fore edges of some pages. Light markings and marginalia. Periodic black-and-white sketches throughout. General age-related toning to pages, along with periodic foxing and wear. Please see photographs and ask any questions prior to purchasing. A scarce piece by the late John Millington Synge (1871-1909). An Irish poet, author, and playwright, Synge s limited number of works due to his short life were nevertheless influential in the Irish literary revival. Visiting the rural Aran Islands over several summers, Synge wrote about their rural living and Catholic beliefs, which was a major theme in many of his pieces. Illustrated by W.B. Yeats, his close friend throughout much of his later life. COLL1911ABCB. Seller Inventory # COLL1911ABCB
