About this Item
Antique chromolithographed articulated Victorian paper doll, 8" tall x 3 1/2" wide, with well-dressed Victorian lady holding a bouquet of flowers. Several die-cut parts. Printed on thin card stock and probably originally a supplement to The Boston Sunday Globe, circa early 1895, as similar Forbes dolls were. Early 1895 is the best guess because we have 'The Forbes Doll, Patent Applied For' printed at the bottom edge and, by August 1895, the dolls noted a July 30, 1895 patent date. So, this is a very early Forbes Doll. A Near Fine copy with an immaculate front surface and only some age-toning to the plain paper back. Otherwise an excellent specimen, with colors still quite vibrant. SEE BOTH PHOTOS ENLARGED. Seller Inventory # 02570
