Illustrato da 5 tavole f.t. e 15 figure silografate n.t., dai disegni di Whymper. Prima edizione di quest'opera di carattere generale sulle Alpi svizzere, con annotazioni scientifiche, soprattutto di tipo geologico. Il reverendo Bonney (1833-1923), geologo e scalatore per oltre cinquat'anni, fu presidente dell'Alpine Club nel 1881-83, autore di svariate opere e collaboratore di E. Walton nella stesura di altre, come la celeberrima ''Peaks and Valleys of the Alps''. Ottimo esemplare a pieni margini (con qualche lieve ingiallitura). Ex-libris E.J. Mazzuchi.
