About this Item
Uncolored view of a fort in the Alagoa state, Brazil from Ogilby's America, Being the Latest, and Most Accurate Description of the New World. Moderate wear, with light creasing, foxing, and age-toning. Ogilby's work is an expanded English translation of Arnoldus Montanus's Die Nieuwe en onbekende Weereldâ ¦ A fascinating view of a fort in the Alagoa state, Brazil. While local fishermen gather in a large net in the shallow bay, a group of Portuguese merchants shade themselves on the beach. In the background of the image, a long religious procession makes its way up the hill toward the fort. A fine dark impression, though the paper does reflect some less-than-optimal storage over the years. Seller Inventory # p00067
