About this Item
Original watercolour, 9 x 4.75 inches, mounted in conservation materials, outer size 13.5 x 9.5 inches. In fine condition. This view looks south through the left-hand arch of the two Dover Road arches known locally as the Skew Arches. These are in fact two arches of Cubitt's magnificent viaduct, separated from the main structure by an embankment carrying the railway line to Dover. Dover Road, one of the main thoroughfares into Folkestone, is clearly still quite rural at this time. Seller Inventory # 23910
