La première édition de ce "Guide du pêcheur à la ligne", superbe ouvrage richement illustré et qui aborde de tous les aspects de la pêche des poissons d'eau douce et des poissons de mer, a paru un an auparavant en 1814. Cette première édition est très rare. Cette troisième édition augmentée et corrigée, publié l'année suivante, en 1815 (comme la seconde édition), est rare également et recherchée. Exemplaire imprimé sur beau papier à belles marges, sans doute un large paper (grand papier). L'illustration se compose de 1 frontispice gravé sur acier (trophies of angling), 25 planches hors-texte dont 2 cartes de parcours de pêche et de nombreuses vignettes gravées sur bois (poissons, mouches, etc.).
