Signed presentation from Mitchell in each volume, each dated in the year of publication: the first presentation discusses the number of articles about the book tipped in by the former owner (of which there are several on the front pages of Vol. 1); the second discusses Mitchell's "worries" over gathering facts for the books and "putting them straight." With the former owner's name on rear pastedowns and a note stating that any pencil notations in the text are by Mitchell. Also, on the front pastedown of Vol. 1, is an initialed note from Mitchell beneath a photograph of an unidentified house. A most unusual set! Good (some wear covers). $250.00.
