History of the Addiscombe Military Seminary, founded by the East India Company for its army cadets. Quarto (9 x 7.5 ins); pp vi, 779. Coloured frontispiece (with tissue-guard), 50 black & white plates, and large fold-out plan of the layout of the buildings and grounds of the seminary of the seminary. Half-title. Titlepage printed in red and black. Pubisher's red cloth, front and spine lettered in gilt, spine darkened and well rubbed at the headband. Edges of boards lightly rubbed, as are corner tips. Top edge gilt, other untrimmed. Ink inscription to endpaper, "Colonel Ligertwood CB with the kindest regards of the author, January 1905". Endpapers lightly spotted. Front gutter becoming exposed.
