Original pictorial brown cloth with gilt bee design on cover. Small folio. 288, 38pp. Illustrated with numerous engravings. Early edition of this complete guide for bee hunting, raising, keeping, harvesting, and other facts about the practical work of bee keeping. The first edition was published in 1879. This work was a huge success in the 19th century with thousands of editions being printed and updated as more information became available. A good copy with some spotting and edgewear to the covers. The spine is a bit rubbed with some wear to the tips. The text is very good with some light wear. A few pages have some spotting in the margin and there is a very faint stain to the inside gutter of the title and first few pages else the text is generally quite clean. The endsheets have some foxing and the rear inner hinge is cracked but secure. Seller Inventory # 12050
