About the Author:
Nacio en la ciudad de Guanajuato, en 1928 y murio en Madrid en 1983. Su obra abarca novelas, cuentos, obras de teatro, articulos periodisticos y relatos infantiles. Fue becario del Centro Mexicano de Escritores, de las fundaciones Rockefeller, Fairfield y Guggenheim. Obtuvo, entre otros, los siguientes reconocimientos: el Premio Casa de las Americas en 1964 por su primera novela, Los relampagos de agosto, y el Premio Internacional de Novela Mexico en 1974 por Estas ruinas que ves.Colaboro en diversas revistas y suplementos culturales de gran importancia en nuestro pais. El reconocido critico literario Christopher Dominguez afirmo de el: ...hizo de su obra, tragicamente truncada, un corrosivo alegato a favor del humor sarcastico y la ironia antihisterica. Ha pasado a la historia como una de las voces mas innovadoras de la narrativa hispanica contemporanea. / He was born in the city of Guanajuato in 1928 and died in Madrid in 1983. His work includes novels, short stories, plays, newspaper articles and children's stories. He was a fellow of the Mexican Center of Writers, of the Rockefeller, Fairfield and Guggenheim foundations. He won, among others, the following awards: the Casa de las Americas Prize in 1964 for his first novel, The Lightning of August, and the International Mexico Novel Prize in 1974 for These ruins you see. He collaborated in various magazines and cultural articles of great importance in our country. Renowned literary critic Christopher Dominguez said of him: ... he did of his work, tragically cut short, a corrosive plea for sarcastic humor and anti-hysterical irony. He has become part of history as one of the most innovative voices in contemporary Hispanic narrative."
