Principal theoretical analysis of system - mundo..Immanuel born in New York, studied at Columbia University , where he graduated in 1951. He earned his master's degree in 1954 and doctorate in 1959 ; then worked as a lecturer until 1971 , when it became a professor of sociology at the University of McGill . In 1976 Professor of Sociology at Binghamton University (SUNY ) , a position he held until he retired in 1999. He was director of the Fernand Braudel Center for Economic Studies , historical systems and civilization was made. Wallerstein held several positions including visiting professor at various universities around the world ; was awarded many honorary titles. He was also the director of studies related to the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales ( School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences ) in Paris , and was president of the International Sociological Association from 1994 to 1998. He is president of the Gulbenkian Commission for restoration social sciences , in charge of a reflection on the present and possible future of the social sciences , as many experts say they should not be taught separately, because they all pursue the same end goal: the perception of reality ( and whether in the past, present or future) of man related to their social environment. In 2004 he received the Gold Medal of the International Kondratieff ND Kondratieff Foundation and the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences ( RAEN ) ... Wallerstein began as an expert in African post- colonial affairs , to which almost all publications devoted to early seventies, when he began to distinguish himself as a historian and theorist at the macro level of the global capitalist economy .
