Founding member of the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN ) . During the Sandinista government in Nicaragua (1979-1990) he served as Minister of the Interior. Tomás Borge was born on August 13, 1930 and soon joined the fight against the dictatorship of the Somoza family saga held in Nicaragua since the murder of Augusto Sandino. Framed in that fight was arrested and jailed for the attempted murder Anastasio Somoza García in Managua ( Nicaragua ) . He imprisoned between 1956 and 1959 escaped from prison and fled to Honduras in whose border was arrested but thanks to the intervention of Otto Castro , friend of the Honduran president , could enter that country . He then traveled to El Salvador using a false passport and Costa Rica ... In 1961 along with Carlos Fonseca Amador and Silvio Mayorga founds the FSLN (Frente Sandinista de Liberacion Nacional ) which brings together all the forces fighting against the Somoza dictatorship. This follower organizing ideology and led by the Nicaraguan leader Augusto C. Sandino (which took the name ) , which launched a guerrilla war against US intervention in his country during the first decades of the twentieth century movement. It is revealed as the main bulwark against dictatorship. He was arrested for his guerrilla activities and was among those released by the takeover of the Palace of the National Concreso on 22 August 1978. The July 19, 1979 the guerrillas enter Managua and make the Somoza government falls , known as Sandinista revolution that would extend until 1990 the FSLN loses the presidential elections as .
