Zilverwerk was door de eeuwen heen een bron van inspiratie voor heel wat kunstenaars. Religieus zilverwerk heeft het vak tot ongekende hoogten gebracht, maar in de loop van de 20e eeuw werden de opdrachten schaarser. Steeds meer ateliers moesten de deuren sluiten en al snel verdween monumentaal zilverwerk op de achtergrond. Gaandeweg lieten ook de opleidingen te wensen over. Het is de droom van vader Rob en zoon Jaap Thalen om opnieuw het allermooiste te maken: objecten, gebruiksvoorwerpen, kunstobjecten in zilver zoals die al heel lang bijna niet meer te vinden zijn. Monumentale creaties waarvoor zowel het oude vakmanschap als de meest geavanceerde technieken vereist zijn. Hun ontwerpen krijgen vorm in het Belgische Francorchamps en worden wereldwijd naar waarde geschat.
