MARTHA COOPER, SPIKE JONZE, BRUCE LABRUCE, LARRY CLARK AND MORE THAN 100 OTHERS COME TOGETHER TO DOCUMENT THE HEART OF STREET CULTURE

A massive volume bringing together the most iconic and representative photographic documentation of urban life ever to be conceived.

THE STREET IS WATCHING is a street photography anthology that brings together the most representative and iconic images, ranging from the '70s to today. It shows the evolution and the spirit of urban photography through the vision of both masters and young generations of photographers as well.

THE STREET IS WATCHING is the vision of Drago - a vision of 'street' that has defined a specific approach to book publishing. The book showcases the work of artists who inspire and provoke, whose point of view awakens us to a System of Independent Culture that defines the Drago aesthetic.

The book features the work of Larry Clark, Boogie, Ed Templeton, Glen E. Friedman, JR, Estevan Oriol, Martha Cooper, Spike Jonze, Jamel Shabazz, Bruce Davidson, Jim Goldberg, Mary Ellen Mark, Dash Snow, Bruce LaBruce, Ivory Serra, Olivia Bee, William Klein, Spencer Platt, Nan Goldin, Cheryl Dunn, Eugene Richards, Pieter Hugo, Ryan McGinley, Ricky Powell, Joseph Rodriguez and 100+ other contributing photographers.

Curated by Drago publisher Paulo von Vacano, THE STREET IS WATCHING also features text by Sara Rosen (a.k.a. Miss Rosen), the iconic new York-based photo editor and photography book specialist.

About the Author:
Paulo von Vacano is the publisher of Drago books. He has been immersed in the urban and contemporary art scene since he first experienced the London punk scene in 1980. Drago's ethos is to publish books as a tool of the revolution. Sara Rosen was the publisher of Miss Rosen Editions, her own imprint, at powerHouse Books, where she was also Associate Publisher and Publicity & Marketing Director. She left after ten years to start her own company, Miss Rosen. She has long been inspired by street and urban cultures, having grown up in the Bronx in the '70s and '80s. She has been influential in graffiti culture as well, having produced the first public conversation between former graffiti writers and NYPD Vandal Squad officers in 2009. Her frequent writings and more information about her projects can be found at her blog, Miss Rosen.
