His works are often based on the juxtaposition of characters in the Old World , artistic, corrupting and seductive and the New World , where people are often honest and open , although its nuances and variations are multiple. In his works he prefers the internal and psychological drama, and is a regular topic of his alienation . His early works are considered realistic , but in fact during his long career he maintained a strong interest in a variety of artistic movements. His works have been adapted to film many times by directors such as William Wyler ( The Heiress ) adaptation of the novel Washington Square, Jack Clayton ( Thriller ) or James Ivory ( The Bostonians , The Golden Bowl ) . The feeling of being an American in Europe is a recurring theme in his books, which contrasted American innocence ( a united kindness to an absolute ignorance of European culture and society ) with the sophistication of the Old Continent . This contrast between innocence and experience the corrupting shown in works such as Roderick Hudson or American . Book Description Softcover. Condition: New. 2a. ed. en esta colección. 19x12 cm. Colección El Barco de Papel, 16. 156 p., Rústica. Sprache: Spanisch, NUEVO / NEU / NEW.
