Denyse O'Leary nació en Saskatchewan en 1950. Ella es una periodista Canadiense que radica en Toronto y además mantiene un blog. Es autora de dos libros ganadores de premios, FE@Ciencia (Winnipeg: J. Gordon Shillingford, 2001) y Por diseño o por azar (Minneapolis: Augsburgo 2004, un vistazo general de la controversia del diseño inteligente). Es coautora del libro El cerebro espiritual: El caso de un neuro científico por la existencia del espíritu (Harper: 2007). Denyse se convirtió en periodista independiente después de terminar la universidad y sus estudios para obtener un grado en literatura y lengua inglesa. Además, ha enseñado escritura, edición y prácticas de negocios a editores y autores durante varios años. O'Leary tiene dos hijas casadas.
