49 pp , No. 18, ABOUT THE AUTHOR :: José Luis Alonso de Santos (Valladolid, 1942 ) is a playwright, stage director , screenwriter and narrator español.Se installed in Madrid in 1959 , where he graduated in Information Sciences and Philosophy and Letters from the Complutense University . Since 1960 he is interested in the world of acting , taking classes with William Layton and four years later began his career in the Independent Experimental Theatre. In 1971 he founded the Free Theatre Association , which led to its dissolution ten years later. Her first debut as an author takes place in 1975 withViva el Duque, our owner !. In 1988 he founded the theater producer Pentación with Gerardo Malla and Rafael Alvarez. He has written screenplays , TV series , children's fiction and novels. His works have been published both in Spain and abroad and have also published critical editions of several of his works . He has directed more than thirty plays by authors such as Bertolt Brecht , Aristophanes , Synge , Calderon , Pío Baroja , Valle Inclán , Plautus , Shakespeare, Carlos Arniches ... as well as several of his own texts. His recent work as stage director have been La dama duende , Calderon de la Barca, also in charge of the Peribáñez version and the Commander of Ocaña , Lope de Vega. He holds the Chair of Dramatic Writing at the Royal College of Dramatic Arts in Madrid. Since June 2000 he has been director of the National Classical Theatre Company .
