Black cloth with gilt sp. lettering, virtually as new. xx + 279, 5 plates ex-pagination; December 1987 - dated gift inscription to fr. end-paper + a small later date, this end-paper has a square ex-libris label to centre top, apparently as published, easilyerasable pencil notes to rear end-paper. 14 cm x 22 cm. A very scholarly account of the history of 'sati' (when widow burns herself) and 'suttee' when she is burnt with her husband. Apparently very scarce. Seller Inventory # 013402
