Dream interpretation has been a long, established tradition in Islam. Indeed, the Prophet Muhammed (pbuh) regularly practiced it, as well it is mentioned in the Holy Qur'an. However, today, it has become mixed up with superstition, myth, and fortune telling that most educated Muslims shun this area. There is a real need to understand this subject, considering that humans spend about a third of their lives sleeping. Shattering the tales and fables currently in-vogue by other books on this topic, Dr. Philips separates the authentic Islamic teachings on dream interpretation from the myths, superstitions and fabrications being circulated on the subject. It also provides a guide for dream interpretation according to references found in the Qur'aan and authentic hadeeths. Discussed topics include the origin of dreams, sleep etiquette, legislative dreams, and general dreams. A highly interesting book to read, with heavy emphasis on correct interpretation and understanding, as learned from the Qur'an and Sunnah, but it is only his opinion in the end, claiming authority.
