Synopsis:

This is a gazetteer of a province included in the erst-while presidency of Madras. Its presentation is much like the standard that most gazetteers follow, giving a separate chapter to each facet of the district. It has 15 chapters that note the following: physical features, political history, the people, agriculture and irrigation, forests, occupation and trade, means of communication, rainfall and seasons, public health, education, land revenue, salt, abkari and miscellaneous revenues, justice, local administration, and taluk gazetteers.
