Eduardo Sacheri nació en Buenos Aires en 1967. Profesor y licenciado en Historia, ejerce la docencia universitaria y secundaria. Ganador del XIX Premio Alfaguara de novela por La noche de la Usina (2016), ha publicado los libros de relatos Esperándolo a Tito y otros cuentos de fútbol (2000; Alfaguara, 2015), Te conozco, Mendizábal y otros cuentos (2001), Lo raro empezó después. Cuentos de fútbol y otros relatos (2004), Un viejo que se pone de pie y otros cuentos (2007), La vida que pensamos. Cuentos de fútbol (Alfaguara, 2013); la antología Las llaves del reino (Alfaguara, 2015), y las novelas Aráoz y la verdad (Alfaguara, 2008), El secreto de sus ojos (2005; Alfaguara, 2009), Papeles en el viento (Alfaguara, 2011) y Ser feliz era esto (Alfaguara, 2014). Colabora en diarios y revistas nacionales e internacionales. El secreto de sus ojos fue llevada al cine por Juan José Campanella y obtuvo, entre otros premios, el Oscar a la mejor película extranjera, su guion estuvo a cargo del propio Sacheri y de Campanella. Ambos volvieron a trabajar juntos en Futbolín, cinta de animación en 3D, basada en un cuento de Roberto Fontanarrosa, que recibió el premio Goya a la mejor película de animación. Las narraciones de Sacheri han sido publicadas en medios gráficos de Argentina, Colombia y España, e incluidas por el Ministerio de Educación argentino en sus campañas de estímulo de la lectura. Su obra ha sido traducida a más de veinte idiomas.
