The history of the medieval empire of a Turkic people of the Jewish religion, the Khazar Khanate (7-10th centuries), still attracts the attention of many scholars. This monograph publishes an original letter from the Jewish-Khazarian community in the city of Kiev (10th century) discovered at the Cambridge archive which, according to the authors, finally proves that not only the leaders of the Khanate, but many city dwellers turned to the Jewish religion. The book was first published in 1982. It is the first academic publication about the letter in Russian with comments by Russian medievalist V. Petrukhin. Index.
