About the Author:
Grace Metalious Marie Grace DeRepentigny on September 8, 1924. She married George Metalious, a school teacher. She is best known for her controversial novel Peyton Place, which stayed on The New York Times bestseller list for 59 weeks. It sold 20 million copies in hardcover and another 12 million as a paperback. She died February 25, 1964 from alcohol related problems. She signed over the rights to her book many times during her lifetime with the result that upon her death nobody could say who really owned it.
