Synopsis

This work contains texts by Gerald Matt, Angela Stief. Assume Vivid Astro Focus (avaf for short) is the pseudonym of an artists' collective whose individual members prefer not to be named in order to abolish the cult of the artistic personality. AVAF's declared goal is 'to reach people in ways they don't even know they are being reached'. Their works are mainly site specific and multimedial. In their spatial interventions, wall and floor-covering paper spreads are combined with film programs, projections, music programs, drawings, stickers, masks and T-shirts. They are inspired by pop culture, everyday aesthetics, historical and spiritual art, an aesthetic emerges of appropriation and collage. Fantastic environments like "Alice in Wonderland" screening naked people, drag queens, flowers, butterflies and birds of paradise lead to a sensorial overload that seems to explode the limits of perception. AVAF's projects unite parties, performances and concerts into an unfinished work in progress.
