Synopsis:

Sigmund Freud lived at Bergasse 19 for almost half a century, practising and writing his most important works. This catalogue guides the reader through the rooms of the former apartment and working area for which a large number of documents and pictures have been collected since 1971. Anna Freud donated many objects that were in the family's possession to the Museum, and among her donations are about 60 items from Freud's collection of antiques. In addition to describing the rooms and displays in the Sigmund Freud Museum, the catalogue also traces the intellectual background and thinking during the Habsburg monarchy, the inter-war period and the rise of national socialism.
