Rather than focusing on the tired old canon of photographers of yesteryear, we instead find ourselves in the company of a plethora of current artists who are very much alive and kicking. Even in a book about contemporary photographers there are still going to be several obvious choices, but it's nice to see some really left-field inclusions here, such as Sophie Calle and Antoine D'Agata. About the Author:

Florian Heine studied art history, communications, and psychology at the University of Munich. He works as a freelance photographer for art, theater, advertising, and commercial projects, and has staged several exhibitions. Heine, who lives in Munich with his wife, published The First Time Innovations in Art with Bucher. BRAD FINGER is the author of 13 Modern Artists Children Should Know and 13 American Artists Children Should Know (both by Prestel). He lives outside Chicago, Illinois.
