This book publishes Ruprecht von Kaufmann s new cycles: Nebel (mist); Medea; and Äquator (equator), for the first time. Kaufmann (b. 1974 in Munich) studied at the Art Center College in Los Angeles. After living in Los Angeles and New York, he moved to Berlin in 2003. He became well known following many exhibitions in Germany and America. In his Medea series, Kaufmann transfers the heroic figures of antiquity to modern times. There is a growing atmosphere of pugnacity in his Nebel pictures which evolve from reverent portraits into downright battle scenes. In his new cycle Äquator, a series consisting of nine large works on felt, Ruprecht concentrates on installations and works that fill entire rooms.
