Synopsis:
Biotechnology is the application of science to business, the bridge between biology and commerce. This is a fast growing area, stimulated by the advent of recombinant DNA technology. This book concentrates not only on manipulative genetics, but also pushes into the realms of biological engineering, and further. The science and the business aspects are treated as one integrated subject. It explores those aspects of business management, economics and the law that are most relevant to the subject, in the context of the scientific advances underlying biotechnical development. Some knowledge of the biological sciences is assumed, especially biochemistry, genetics and microbiology, and also at least a laypersons view of buying and selling.
