Computed tomography of the heart has become a highly accurate diagnostic modality that is attracting increasing attention. This extensively illustrated book aims to assist the reader in integrating cardiac CT into daily clinical practice, while also reviewing its current technical status and applications. Clear guidance is provided on the performance and interpretation of imaging using the latest technology, which offers greater coverage, better spatial resolution, and faster imaging. The specific features of scanners from all four main vendors, including those that have only recently become available, are presented. Among the wide range of applications and issues to be discussed are coronary artery bypass grafts, stents, plaques, and anomalies, cardiac valves, congenital and acquired heart disease, and radiation exposure. Upcoming clinical uses of cardiac CT, such as plaque imaging and functional assessment, are also explored.

Review:

From the reviews:

“This book is impressive. In the text, one will find all possible information on the use of computed tomography (CT) in cardiac coronary and congenital heart disease evaluation. ... Up-dated recommended reading lists are to be found at the end of each chapter. This is a book to be treasured by the radiologists and cardiologist who discover a mint of wise and precise information in their daily practice.” (Giampiero Beluffi, La radiologia medica, Vol. 118, 2013)

“This book focuses on how to integrate cardiac computed tomography (CT) into routine practice. ... The text is intended for radiologists, cardiologists, and any physician interested in cardiac imaging–from the novice looking for an introduction to the field to the practitioner seeking a well-balanced instructional textbook and overview. ... The text is well organized and easy to read. ... I highly recommend Marc Dewey’s Cardiac CT as a valuable addition to the bookshelf of the practicing cardiac imager.” (David O. Griffith, Radiology, Vol. 263 (1), April, 2012)

“This book is a most welcome addition to recent publications on the subject. As an increasing number of radiologists and hospitals start to take up the challenges of establishing and running a cardiac CT service, this book should provide invaluable assistance. ... The book is well-organised and leads the reader through a practical approach to establishing a cardiac CT service and should prove valuable to radiologists and radiographers. ... this is an essential part of the CT library.” (John Giles, RAD Magazine, January, 2012)

“Cardiac CT comprises 333 pages and is divided into 21 concise chapters ... . illustrated with ‘best of the best’ images ... . When the reader follows the text and figures in tandem, the experience is similar to being in a lecture hall with an outstanding professor who delivers content in a clear, meaningful way. ... highly recommended for all physicians interested in cardiac imaging, from the novice looking for an introduction to the field, to the practitioner seeking a well-balanced instructional textbook and overview.” (Stephen Fleet, Journal of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography, Vol. 5, 2011)
