About the Author:
Jack London is one of the greatest American novelists and short story writers. He was born on January 12, 1876 in San Francisco. Jack was raised by his mother Flora Wellman and his stepfather John London. Jack London left school at 14 and worked several different jobs. Eventually he returned to high school and graduated. At age of 19 Jack London was admitted to the University of California, Berkley, but he stayed there for only 6 months. Jack London worked many different jobs during his lifetime including seaman, factory worker, railroad hobo, and even gold prospector in Klondike. In 1900 Jack London married Bess Maddern and he had two daughters with her. They separated in 1903. After the separation from his first wife, Jack London married his secretary Charmain Kittredge. Jack London was among the most publicized figures of his time, and he used this fact to support his socialistic views. He was one of the first writers to work with the movie industry; several of his novels were made into films. Jack London wrote hundreds of short stories, and over 50 books, including such classics as “Call of the Wild”, “The Sea Wolf” and “Martin Eden”. Jack London Died at age of forty on November 22, 1916.
