About the Author:
After working for decades as a fashion illustrator and art director, Norma Lu focuses her creative efforts on paper dolls.

Trained at Parsons School of Design, her specialty is antique clothing and it shows in her paper doll art. Her Wardrobe series, published by Hobby House Press, includes paper doll sets from the Edwardian, Victorian and Art Deco periods. Her titles for Texas Tech University Press include Collection by Design I and II representing dozens of exquisitely rendered costumes from Kent State Museum collection. Other titles include The Fowler Family Gets Dressed, The Fowler Family Celebrates Statehood and a Wedding, and Heroine of the Limberlost about naturalist and author, Gene Stratton-Porter.

A favorite artist at the annual paper doll conventions, Norma Lu Meehan's souvenir paper dolls are always a hit. These days, Norma Lu is pleased to be working on new paper doll projects for Paper Studio Press including this lovely Greta Garbo Paper Doll as Rhonda Fleming, Arlene Dahl and Margaret O'Brien.

With a big family of children and grandchildren, Norma Lu divides her time between her home in Indiana and her lake house in Michigan. She is currently working on a paper doll book of Margaret O'Brien for Paper Studio Press.

Review:
There isn't a single outfit in this paper doll book that one could wear to the grocery store. Well, at a stretch, there is one, maybe, but they'd stare in my local Ralph's. That makes for a great paper doll book! Plus, can you imagine Greta Garbo going to the local grocer? Movies in the 1930s made no effort, nor saw any virtue, in showing real life. That made for great costumes and great paper dolls! My favorites form these film wonders are all from Mata Hari. An elegant gold and silver gown (with exposed shoulders) would be a nock-out in any era. One I'm going to commission from my private seamstress (don't I wish) is a brick reddish dress and matching coat dripping with strips of embroidery and jewels. High boots complete the outfit... love those high boots! Lastly, Mata Hari wore a simple black gown (complete with martini in hand) with neckline plunging to the waist. --Cornerstones, A Paper Doll Journal
