She was supported in her art career by both of her parents, and has been drawing the darlene sisters since childhood. Humor is a big part of Wainright's family life. Stories for the sisters often stem from noticing the smallest event that someone else might overlook; a trip to the grocery store, or even the antics of the family dog. Jamie is greatly influenced by her two sons and a close-knit group of friends who are all huge fans of the darlene sisters. They are all so proud to see the girls published.
