Synopsis
When Colin discovers his son is on a murder charge in France, he trails his boat, The Dragonfly, across the channel to help. There he meets his granddaughter for the first time, and they embark on a journey through the French canals, where they land big fish and uncover burning secrets. Quirky and warm-hearted, with darker undertones that keep you gripped. Kate Dunn is a fine storyteller. --Ben Elton, comedian and writer 'Blackadder', 'The Young Ones.'
While a good deal of levity is present, especially when Delphine utters her starchy catchphrase, 'It is not possible', Dunn's story features dense layers of melancholy (Colin felt sadness like a sharp blade drawn along the length of him ).
