The balance between critical concepts and actual discussion of particular films varies, but generally is well worked out and informative. The articles also contain references to earlier films and documentary movements. ...this is a useful resource for teachers and students. The choice of documentaries is varied and interesting, and there are some telling descriptions and comments on the individual films. It is rather nice to enjoy a read about the poor relation of the movies. --Media Education Journal
