Synopsis
Edgar Donahoe, failed student and unemployed cook, has moved heaven and earth to locate his friend, Mountain, holed up on an island somewhere in the Caribbean Ocean. But on arrival he finds that the dream paradise he anticipated has some horrors in store. Mosquitos, ghosts, alcoholism and Mountain's dangerous nymphomaniac girlfriend are just the start. It will take nothing short of a hurricane to blow Edgar out of this mess.

About the Author
Poe Ballantine currently lives in Chadron, Nebraska. His work has appeared in The Atlantic Monthly, The Sun, Kenyon Review, and The Coal City Review. In addition to garnering numerous Pushcart and O. Henry nominations, Mr. Ballantine's work has been included in the anthologies The Best American Short Stories 1998 and The Best American Essays 2006.
