A celebration of the sports moped, this volume charts the history of the genre unwittingly created by the British government and killed off by more legislation just five years later. It recaptures the spirit of happy and carefree times and looks at the bikes that gave freedom and mobility to a generation.

Review:
With over 340 colour pictures, the book has descriptions of all the sports mopeds, the stories of the people who rode them, todays enthusiasts, restoration tips and a whole chapter devoted to the famous 'fizzy' (the Yamaha FS1-E). This is a stunning and hugely detailed book. Take it from me, you will not want to put it to down. SFR RATING 4 - Scooter-forums.com -

The book charts the history of the '70s moped boom and has plenty of great photos and interviews with committed moped nutters as well as info on the top mopeds of the time. It's an excellent read for anybody with even the faintest interest in classic mopeds. - Tag magazine -

Can I just say what a fantastic book this is. Several people incuded myself have said what a superb product you have produced. The text and photos are just great. This book is a credit to the writer and your organisation many thanks. - Unsolicited testimonial from a customer -

For anyone who ever had, or lusted after, a sports moped, this book is essential, and will provide hour after hour of reminiscence and fun. One to lock yourself in the shed with. - Classic Motorcycle Mechanics -

The author documents the reputations and history of all these willing little bikes and manages to weave in the sheer enthusiasm their young owners had for them." East Anglian Daily Times (Suffolk) -

...it's fab, a lot of time and effort has gone in... - fs1e.co.uk -

Skelton has brought the age of the sports moped back to life with a comprehensive review of the bikes that fascinated a nation's youth (apart from me, obviously) between 1971 and 1980. An appendix of the No.1 songs that soundtracked a generation adds splendid contextual immediacy. --The Telegraph

Packed full of 340 great pictures and firsthand accounts of those notable years, the author, Richard Skelton, has put together a great read, making it a real addition to your book collection. It s not a complete encyclopedia of 1970s mopeds - but then it never set out to become that anyway ... Easy to read, light-hearted and packed full of pictures. --Twist & Go
About the Author:
Richard Skelton combines working in the television industry as a sound technician with freelancing as a motorcycle journalist. He has been a motorcyclist since first taking to the road on a Yamaha FS1-E on his 16th birthday in 1976 and, although he usually rides bigger bikes these days, he keeps an FS1-E taxed and tested for summer use. His writing experience comprises occasional features for motorcycle magazines in the 1980s, a period working as a newspaper reporter in the mid 1990s and, currently, reporting for the specialist road racing publication, BikeSport News. He lives in Holmfirth, West Yorkshire.
